COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Dan Severn got a nice Christmas gift this week. It was announced that he will be inducted into the Michigan chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame this spring for his lifetime of service to wrestling.
Severn will be one of five inductees. The induction will take place during an awards banquet at Weber’s Inn in Ann Arbor April 28, 2019.
He owns and operates his Michigan Sports Camps on North Fiske Road which trains individuals for martial arts, amateur wrestling and professional wrestling.
Severn’s wrestling career goes back over four decades in both the amateur and professional ranks. He was a two-time national champion in high school and had an outstanding career at Arizona State University where he was an All-American twice and was inducted into the university’s Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Severn was an alternate for the 1984 United States Olympic Wrestling Team. He eventually won 13 National AAU wrestling championships and coached wrestling at Arizona State University and Michigan State.
Severn is also notable for his success in the early years of Ultimate Fighting Championship tournaments. In addition, he has fought and wrestled for many professional promotions.
