COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a couple of changes in how their meetings will be conducted during their yearly Organizational Meeting Wednesday.
One change calls for the regular meetings and work sessions to be conducted in a business-like manner, with respect among board members and the public, and that there will be no obscene speech or profanity. Members of the public are expected to be seated or standing in the gallery area of the meeting room.
Members of the public will not be allowed to approach the board either individually or collectively in the western part of the meeting room without the expressed permission of the board chair. Anyone who does will be gaveled out of order.
Commissioners finalized their liaison assignments. At first, Commissioner Leonard Kolcz requested to be removed as the Fair Board liaison due in part to the length of their monthly meetings. But County Administrator Bud Norman suggested it was alright to attend meetings periodically.
It was also suggested to ask the various boards to schedule commissioners for the beginning portion of their meetings.
In addition, commissioners agreed to have the board chair only vote in the event of a tie.
