COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Coldwater Township teenager who is facing four counts of criminal sexual conduct following an alleged sexual assault during a party last month has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court .
17-year-old Matthew Siler waived his preliminary exam, which was scheduled for Wednesday in Branch County District Court.
Siler is now scheduled to appear for a Branch CountyCircuit Court pre-trial conference January 28, 2019.
He was arrested following a Coldwater Police Department investigation into the alleged December 5, 2018 incident involving a 14-year-old girl.
Court documents indicate other party goers were unsuccessful in their attempts to get the suspect to stop. At one point, a friend of the alleged victim reportedly cut Siler in the back with a pocket knife. A police report also indicates Siler and other teens were drinking alcohol at the party.
One of the four charges against Siler is first degree criminal sexual conduct.
