Dorothy “Jean” Swart, 88, of Coldwater, passed away on Wednesday,
January 2, 2019 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January
7, 2019 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating.
Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will take
place on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 11:30 until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral
service at the funeral home.
Jean was born May 7, 1930 to Edward James Harris and Madge
Irene (Harris) Durham in West Point, Kentucky. After graduating from high
school, she attended the University of Kentucky. Jean married Donald Conrad
Swart on October 28, 1950 in Angola, Indiana and he preceded her in death on
April 14, 1989.
She worked in sales at Woodward’s Dress Store in Coldwater
and then for Estee Lauder in Novi, Michigan, Columbia, S. Carolina and Norcross,
Georgia. She also worked as a greeter at Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater and
for Dave Norton Auctioneer.
Jean volunteered for CHC Auxillary in the gift shop and also
for Tibbits Opera House. She had belonged to the Coldwater Sweet Adeline’s. She
was an avid reader and she liked to bake, make homemade soups, walk and listen
to music.
Jean is survived by her children; Deborah Swart of
Coldwater, Rick (Pam) Swart of Thornville, Ohio, Todd (Deb) Swart of Escondido,
California and Jeffery (Kristi) Swart of Cumming, Georgia, her adopted
daughter, Cindy Hoover of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, her grandchildren; Michael
Temples, Eric (Jessica) Swart, Jaimee (Dwight Hervey) Travis, Evan (Michelle)
Swart, Patricia (Josh) Barrett, Audrey (Chris) Roetter, Trent (Sasha Karelov)
Swart and Victoria Swart, her great grandchildren; Brianna Travis, Kiersten
Travis, Skyler Temples, Avery Swart, Eleanor Barrett and Palmer Swart and her
great great grandchild, K’ayvion Mcatee. She was preceded in death by her
parents and her husband Donald.
