Robert “Bob” Hayes, 87, of Quincy,
passed away January 1, 2019 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
He was born August 2, 1931 in Colfax, IL to
Curtis and Grace (Bennett) Hayes. Bob
married Deloris McDonald on January 27, 1973 and she preceded him in death on
April 16, 2014.
He graduated from Camden high
School and then went on to serve his country in the United States Marines. Bob had been employed with GTE phone repair
for 38 years before he retired. He was a
member of the Branch County Sheriff Posse and the Quincy American Legion.
Bob
enjoyed square dancing, driving ponies in parades, was involved in 4H and was
one of the founders of the Branch County Saddle Club.
Robert is survived by his sons,
Larry (Jeannine) Hayes and Jeff (Lori) Hayes both of Quincy; grandchildren,
Justin Hayes, Kayla Hayes, Brian (Amy) Davis and Tyler Davis; step children,
Denny Bowen of Oklahoma, Denise (Joe) Ferrel of Wyoming and Diane (Don) Miller
of Arizona; step grandchildren, Josh Bowen of Coldwater, Aubrey Mason of
Wyoming and Brandon Miller of Arizona; step great grandchildren, Alexis Bowen
and Denim Bowen; brothers, Doyle Hayes and Bruce Hayes and sisters, Pat Tibbs
and Mary Sawdey
In addition to his wife, Deloris, Bob
was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Hayes; brothers, Jim, Bill
and Burl and sisters, Dixie Cook and Connie Hayes.
A visitation to celebrate the life
of Robert “Bob” Hayes will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 from 3-7 PM at the Eagle Funeral
Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
