BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – After nearly four decades in public education, it was announced at Monday night’s Bronson Community Schools Board of Education meeting that Ryan Elementary School Principal Mark Heifner will be retiring at the end of this school year.
Heifner has worked in the Bronson School District since 2002 first as the principal at Chicago Street School before becoming the principal at Ryan Elementary.
He has also worked in several northeast Indiana districts. He spent 15 years as a teacher in the East Noble School Corporation, six years as an assistant principal for Garrett Keyser Butler Schools and one year as an Assistant Superintendent in Whitley County.
Heifner says he plans to continue working with children through substitute teaching or helping districts with special projects. He also plans to help out his wife with her home daycare and preschool and be a foster parent with her.
Heifner also plans to be more involved in lay ministry in Angola through his church, the Angola Assembly of God.
