COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – City of Coldwater Economic Development Assistant Audrey Tappenden presented a report to the Historic District Commission on Wednesday evening on what has been worked on in the downtown area since she was brought on board in September.
She said they started with taking an inventory of downtown.
Tappenden added they have been looking at comparing incentives and relearning what is available. She said they are working on a recruitment package. In addition, several building owners have given permission for the Opportunity Coldwater signs to be posted in empty store fronts.
Tappenden pointed out several downtown buildings have changed hands in the last year including the old J.B. Branch building and the former Starr Block building which she says will house Jalisco’s Grocery that will hopefully open in the near future.
Tappenden has been assisting City Manager Keith Baker and Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Executive Director Lisa Miller.
