PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls basketball team remained alone in first place in the Interstate 8 after a 64-39 victory on Friday night at Pennfield. Carlee Crabtree led a balanced attack with 17 points, six rebounds and six assists. Tyler Scheid had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Emilee Smoker added 10 points and five rebounds. Coldwater improves to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. They travel to Harper Creek on Tuesday.
Katie Rathbun scored 20 points which included the winning bucket as she drove the length of the court with 10 seconds left as the Quincy Orioles pulled out a 37-36 home court victory over Jonesville. The victory ended a three game losing streak for Quincy. Rathbun also grabbed eight rebounds. She along with Hayley Wineland had three assists and two steals. Hannah Clark added nine points for Quincy. The Orioles are now 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big 8 Conference.
After losing three straight games, the Bronson Vikings took out their frustrations on the Union City Chargers Friday night as they jumped out to a 23-1 first quarter lead and never looked back as they posted a 60-13 triumph. Alanna Mayer and Karissa Gest led the Vikings with 11 points while Hope Austin had five points for the Chargers.
