Norman “Mike” D. Rumsey, 80, of Howe, Indiana, formerly of
Bronson, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at ProMedica Coldwater
Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from
3:00 until 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. A funeral service will
take place on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in
Bronson with Pastor Tim Rowland officiating. Interment will be held at a later
date.
Mike was born April 16, 1938 to Verl C. and Lea Mae (Burritt)
Rumsey in Bronson. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 6, 1956 and
was honorably discharged on February 6, 1958 as a Specialist Third Class.
Mike
had worked at Douglas Auto Tech in Bronson as a furnace operator and then as a
fork lift driver for over 40 years retiring in 2000.
He enjoyed trapping with his Dad, fishing, loved cutting
wood, gardening, mowing grass, playing Racko and always helping others. He
thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mike is survived by his children; Leah Rumsey of Battle
Creek, Christina Montgomery of Coldwater, Peggy (Gene) Bartolomea of Ohio, Tony
Rumsey of Grand Rapids, Angelique (Don) Scheich of Dundee, Gina Martin of
Coldwater, Michael (Gina) Rumsey of Wagener, S. Carolina, Paul (Catrina) Rumsey
of Bronson, Dawn Gonser of Colon, Regina (James) Sites of Sturgis and Robert
(Amy) Gonser of Mendon, his special friend; Rosie Wilbur of Coldwater, his 27
grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; his brothers, Clifford (Donna) Rumsey
of Bronson, Verl (Connie) Rumsey of Bronson, Ronald (Jeanne) Rumsey of Bronson
and Carlon (Leota) Rumsey of Bronson.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
2 sisters; Ida Mae Lampman and Sharon Martinez and 1 brother; Vernon D. Rumsey.
