COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Council member Jim Knaack raised several questions and concerns during Monday night’s City Council meeting about what he thought was a lack of movement in attracting businesses to the downtown area.
He questioned why nothing has been brought before the Council in the four months since the city hired marketing consultant Tim Hart.
Knaack snapped at Mayor Tom Kramer at one point as the Mayor tried to put a positive spin on things.
Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Executive Director Lisa Miller said their efforts have been aggressive over the last four months.
City Manager Keith Baker said Hart has about a half dozen different leads and while there has been a lot of activity, nothing has reached the finish line. He said the Downtown Development Authority Board will be asked next Wednesday to approve $10,000 in funds per year for the next three years which will be used for facade improvements to downtown buildings.
