COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man entered a plea of no contest Monday in Branch County Circuit Court on a felony charge of reckless driving causing death in connection with a traffic accident in July 2016 that took the life of his girl friend.
26-year old Andrew Pitt was scheduled to go on trial on January 30. Sentencing is scheduled for February 25, 2019.
The crash happened on Hull Street near Vans Avenue. According to Coldwater police, officers found Pitt’s Chevy Cobalt had veered off the street and into a tree.
Pitt and his passenger, 22-year-old Paige Graves, also of Coldwater, suffered multiple serious injuries and were both rushed to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for emergency treatment. Graves later died from her injuries.
Coldwater Police said their investigation indicated excessive speed and alcohol were suspected factors in the accident.
