COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Fire Department had to spend over an hour late Monday afternoon at the Old Mill Race Apartments, after a plumber soldering copper pipe caused some lint in a first floor mechanical room dryer to catch fire. Firefighters say the plumber used an fire extinguisher to put the fire out before crews arrived around 5:00 p.m.
There was light smoke throughout the first floor.
Burnt insulation and lint had to be removed from the mechanical room ceiling.
Firefighters also checked the second floor to make sure the fire had not spread. They also ventilated smoke out of the building.
No injuries were reported. All units cleared the scene at about 6:10 p.m..
