COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The suspect arrested in connection with the robbery of a woman early Sunday in Coldwater at Snyder’s Laundromat was arraigned Monday in Branch County District Court.
32-year old Daniel Walters of Coldwater is accused of stealing the purse of the victim, who was inside the laundromat when the incident occurred. Coldwater City Police say Walters fled the scene on West Pearl Street and along the way, removed $236 from the women’s wallet, which was later recovered along with the purse.
He was eventually found by officers with assistance from Michigan State Police at Poly Green Foam on Jay Street hiding underneath a pile of rubber mats.
Walters had to receive hospital treatment for hypothermia before being booked at the Branch County Jail.
He was charged with five counts, including larceny from a building and possession of methamphetamine. Walters is being held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to return to Branch County District Court for a probable cause hearing January 24, 2019.
