COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was a battle of the birds on Thursday night as the Coldwater Cardinal gymnastics team took on the Ann Arbor Eagle cooperative team. Coldwater claimed the victory, soundly defeating Ann Arbor by a margin of 134.425 – 114.1.
The Cardinal gymnasts are now 4-1 in league play with two more dual competitions left in the South Central Gymnastics League.
Vault– Leah Goodwin was first with a score of 9.175. McKenna Hantz was third with a score of 8.675.
Uneven Bars—Layla Schoch (8.45) was first followed by Abby Travelbee (8.3) and Leah Goodwin was third (7.925) Claire Sheppard continues to battle back as she recorded a regional qualifying score.
Balance Beam– Abby Travelbee (8.25) was first followed by Layla Schoch in second (8.075) and Claire Sheppard (7.95)
Floor Exercise– Leah Goodwin (9.25) finished first followed by Abby Travelbee (9.025) and Erica Rodgers (8.675)
All-Around– Abby Travelbee earned top honors with her combined score of 33.975. Leah Goodwin was close behind with her tally of 33.75 for second place. Layla Schoch secured third place at 33.325.
Coldwater will host a youth gymnastics clinic this Saturday in the auxiliary gymnasium. Children ages 2 to 5 years will have a 45 minute session to start their day at 8:30AM. School age children ages 6 and up can participate from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. followed immediately by a Ninja Warrior/Obstacle course.
