Howard James “Jim” Garman, 87 of Coldwater passed away
Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
In following Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place
and the family will have a celebration of his life at a later date. Cremation
services have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater.
Jim was born October 13, 1931 to Howard and Rolene
(Bower) Garman at the family farm in Bethel Township. He was a 1950 graduate of
Coldwater High School. Farming was in his blood from a young age and his
life-long passion.
On August 6,
1978 he married Elizabeth “Betty” Galloway. She preceded him in death on
December 13, 1997.
Jim was a loyal John Deere man and looked forward to
an annual trip to the Mackinac Bridge tractor crossing. He liked country music
and driving the countryside to take in the changing seasonal crops and
landscape. Jim attended Batavia Community
Church. He enjoyed visiting, spending time with family and friends, and will be
remembered for his kindness and generosity.
Jim is survived by his children Bethany Garman and
Rebecca Garman of Coldwater, Cindy Weaver and Dick Bragg of Reading, Thad (Laura)
Weaver of Hastings, and Norma Weaver of Reading; his siblings Mary Lou McCurley
of Coldwater, David (Mary) Garman of Richmond, IN, and sister-in-law Nancy
McLean of Newnan, GA; his grandchildren Jason (Joy) Weaver, Joshua Weaver,
Jennafer Bragg and Shawn Herman, and
Brittany Bragg; great grandchildren,
Zoe, Lacey, Drayton, Elora and Ethan; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Bill McCurley.
