James Sonny Rogers, 76 of Coldwater passed away
Friday, January 18, 2019 at Borgess Medical Center of Kalamazoo.
In following James’ wishes, cremation has taken place
and the family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Cremation
services have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater.
James was born November 9, 1942 to James and Kate
(Garner) Rogers in Detroit. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Upon return from his tour of service he married the love of his life Sandra Campos
on November 16, 1963 in Columbus, GA. Sonny was a hardworking man, spending 35
years as an iron worker for Detroit Edison. They later moved into his parent’s
old home in Coldwater in 2005.
Sonny was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting big
game and going fishing. Sonny and Sandra liked traveling the United States on
their Honda Goldwing with a sidecar. James will be remembered for being very
generous with his time and tools to those he knew. He enjoyed tinkering and
helping on projects, if he could apply his knowledge in his own manner.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra
Rogers of Coldwater; his children Barbara (Scott) Bucy of Dearborn, Carol
Rogers of Houghton Lake, William (Jennifer) Rogers of Coldwater, and Richard
(Marcia) Rogers of Queensland, Australia; his siblings Jean (Wayne) Ballard of
Cement City, Ronald (Sandy) Rogers of Wixom, and Rusty (Jessie) Rogers of
Taylor; his grandchildren Krystle Bucy, Katie Bucy, Alex Rogers, Beth Ann
(Richard) Petrimoulx, Carol (James) Garcia, Michael Bachman, and Ariel Bachman;
his great grandchildren Gavin Petrimoulx, Joseph Blackmun, Alex Nichols, and
David Garcia; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
