UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City is looking to bring a senior center to the Village.
The idea was presented during last weeks Village Council meeting by Council Trustee Steve Searls who has formed a committee to look into collecting donations for the purchase of the old Putnam Funeral Home building.
“There is a great need for this type of facility in Union City and it’s a great use of a historic Union City building” said Searls at the council meeting.
The council approved the eight committee members who will be finalizing the details. The committee will consist of Searls, William Avery, Chris Mathis, Jen Nagel, Alisha Carr, Megan Bentley, Jim Hayden and Madonna Hilardes.
The Village plans to partner with the Branch County Community Foundation fundraising after getting help from the Foundation with the Rick Mears Amphitheater project.
The Council agreed last Monday to enter into a contract with the current owner to hold the building while the fundraising takes place.
More details are expected to be announced at a later date.
