COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a man was injured Monday afternoon outside the Clemens Food Group facility on Newton Road north of Coldwater. According to police, the victim, whose name was not released, was injured when he backed his semi-tractor trailer into a CO2 tank, creating a leak which caused the truck driver to black out.
Officers said the man was taken by Life Care Ambulance to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threating injuries. The incident was reported to Branch County Central Dispatch shortly after 3:00 p.m. Monday.
The Coldwater Fire Department as well as a Michigan State Police motor carrier officer were at the scene for nearly 3 hours.
Clemens released a statement on the incident saying they are “committed to the safety, health and welfare of our team members and all of our partners, and we are thankful that no major injuries occurred during this incident.
