Alice I. Murphy, 81, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday,
January 23, 2019 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday,
February 8, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Coldwater. The family will
receive friend prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon. Cremation services
have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Alice was born February 22, 1937 in Monroe, MI to Bruce
& Helen (Robinson) Knowles. She graduated from the University of Michigan
with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.
Alice married Gordon Widlitzki in 1960 and later married Roy
Murphy on June 24, 1983 in Coldwater.
Mrs. Murphy was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She
had worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Addison, Dr. Chan and Dr. Morton, but
raising her children was her first priority.
Alice was a member of the Coldwater First Presbyterian
Church where she had served as Deacon. She sang in the choir and Sweet Adelines
for many years. She had served in many local service clubs, holding officer
positions. Alice was active in the Campfire Girls serving as President for many
years and on the Coldwater School Board for 4 years. Alice was recognized as
Woman of the Year in 1978 by the Chamber of Commerce.
She enjoyed traveling and archery, but her
greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by her husband Roy, her children Lori
DeCosta of Phoenix, Julia Yearling of Coldwater, Steve (Jodi) Widlitzki of
Quincy, AZ, Dan Murphy of New Mexico, Michael (Leigh) Murphy of Austin, TX,
Timothy Murphy of San Marcus, TX, Greg Murphy of Austin, TX, sisters Mary
Tischer of Waterford, Dorothy (Howard) LeRoy of Houghton Lake, grandchildren
Reina DeCosta, Grant Yearling, Logan Widlitzki, Erin Yearling, Devin Murphy,
Bradi Murphy and Nadine Murphy.
