Evelyn Ilene Nelson, 94, of Batavia Township, passed away on
Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Fountains at Bronson Place in Kalamazoo.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from
1:00 until 3:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment will follow
at Batavia Cemetery.
Evelyn was born June 1, 1924 to John A. and Bertha
(Kerschner) Harris in Payne, Ohio. She married Richard J. Nelson on July 17,
1946 in Battle Creek and he passed away on October 25, 2012.
She retired from Western Michigan University in Food
Services after many years of employment. Evelyn was an avid Detroit Tigers and
Detroit Lions fan. She enjoyed gardening, camping in northern Michigan, but she
will be especially missed for her cooking.
Evelyn is survived by her children; John (Terry) Nelson of
Kalamazoo and Karen Munson of Kalamazoo, her grandchildren; Christopher Nelson,
Lisa (Josh) Callahan, Michael Campbell and Jason (Shannon) Wagner, her great
grandchildren; Austin Callahan, Zackary Callahan, Sierra Nelson, McKenna
Campbell, Payton Wagner, Cheyanne Wagner and Nathaniel Wagner.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, her husband Richard and her daughter Linda Argo.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be directed
to the Burnside Center in Coldwater or Southern Care Hospice Services in
Portage.
