ORLAND, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash which took place early Sunday night east of Orland.
The fatal victim has been identified as 48-year-old Susan Jakovljevic of Fremont, Indiana.
Deputies say she was driving a 2012 Fiat 500 when it crossed the center line and sideswiped a Freightliner on State Road 120 near 700 North just before 7:00 p.m..
Jakovljevic was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle. Deputies say it appears she was not wearing a seat belt. Responding deputies found her vehicle upside down.
The Sheriff’s Department says it’s believed alcohol was a factor in the accident.
The driver of the Freightliner, 60-year-old Bartholomew Tinder of Waldron, was not injured.
