COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted to bring forward to next week’s regular meeting a resolution that would establish a lake board in Kinderhook Township.
It’s one of the steps that are being taken to coordinate efforts to repair the dam on the Indiana side of Lake George.
The other issue that has to be dealt with is the establishment of legal lake levels.
The resolution has already been passed by the Kinderhook Township Board. The action came after the lake board was requested by property owners.
The lake board would be made up of the Branch County Drain Commissioner or their designee, a Branch County Commissioner, two representatives from Kinderhook Township, and a member who would be elected at the board’s first meeting.
In order to fund the repairs to the dam, a conservancy district was formed in Indiana, while a lake board had to be set up in Michigan.
