COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Thanks to the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, the robatics teams for the Coldwater Community Schools are getting a boost. The CBPU recently donated $3,000 to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education in the Coldwater Community School District.
The funds are being used to support the First Robotics Competition Team otherwise known as “The Conclave” at Coldwater High School as well as the First Tech Challenge teams at Legg Middle School, the First Lego League teams at Lakeland Elementary and the entire third grade at Jefferson Elementary doing FIRST Lego League, Junior.
The First Robotics Competition season started in January. The team will compete at Battle Creek Lakeview and Jackson Northwest during March.
The First Tech Challenge and First Lego League seasons ran in the fall and they have already been to their competitions.
The First Lego League Junior teams at Jefferson will be hosting an Expo May 4, 2019 at Coldwater High School.
Guided by adult coaches and mentors, teams of students build and program robots to perform challenging tasks against a field of competitors. They must also raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and perform community outreach.
