COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The annual Spring Count Day is now scheduled to held Thursday in the Coldwater Community School District.
It was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday but the district had to call off classes for a ninth time this school year because of bad weather and poor road conditions.
Superintendent Terry Boguth said during Monday night’s school board meeting that the district’s fall enrollment was down by 38 students when compared 2017.
The board on Monday night approved an amended budget to account for the loss of students as well as for the changes in staffing the district had over the summer.
The actual student enrollment throughout the district last fall was 2,939.
The state mandates that each district in Michigan hold two count days every school year. The counts are critical because each student translates into state funding.
