WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg (R-Tipton, MI) voted against the Department of Homeland Security funding bill which cleared both the House and Senate Thursday.
Walberg was not happy the bill contained far less money to build a wall along the country’s southern border as a way to control illegal immigration from Mexico.
But he feels the President is within his Constitutional right to declare a national emergency.
The bipartisan measure averted another partial shutdown of the federal government.
The final vote was 300-128. Walberg was among 109 Republicans who voted no.
