Raymond E. Cook, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Monday,
February 18, 2019 at the Laurels of Coldwater.
The funeral will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 3:00
PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Marty Burdick from the
Union City Wesleyan Church officiating.
Visitation will be held, prior to
the service, on Friday beginning at 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home. Interment
of ashes will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Raymond was born August 27, 1927 in Knoxville, TN to U.B.
& Clara “Birdie”(Cooke) Cook. He
served in the US Army from 1945-1947 and was a veteran of WWII. Ray married Viola Mae “Gabby” (Little)
Dirschell on September 4, 1981. She
preceded him in death on April 1, 2016.
Mr. Cook worked at Associated Truck Lines for 20 years,
retiring in 1990. He was a lifetime
member of the Coldwater American Legion and an avid racing fan. Ray was known by many as “The Train Man”
because of his love of trains and his extensive collection. He enjoyed lake
life and the many activities that go with, but his greatest joy was his family
and the time they spent together.
Raymond is survived by his children Bill (Dell) Cook of
Union City, Linda (Jeff) Carter of Battle Creek, Raymond (Mary Ann) Cook, Jr.
of Quincy, Deborah Camp of Auburn, IN, David Cook of Union City, Jerry (Amy) Cook
of Champaign, IL , Robert (Sherry) Cook of Union City, Sheryl Harrington of
Angola, IN, his step-children Steve (Jennifer) Dirschell , Karen Dirschell all
of Coldwater, 30 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was
preceded in death by his daughters Mary Jane Cook, Judy Cook and his sisters
Joanne Wycoff and Frances Cummins.
