COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted during their work session Thursday to bring forward to next week’s meeting a request from Prosecuting Attorney Valerie White to hire an additional prosecutor which would bring the number of prosecutors in the office back up to three.
White is currently being assisted by Scott Smith after she was recently appointed by Circuit Judge Bill O’Grady to fill out the term of former Prosecutor Ralph Kimble.
White explained to Commissioners she wants to make the hire first and then decide on a chief assistant.
Also brought forward to next Tuesday’s meeting for formal approval was a request from White to fill a part time support staff position.
The person hired would start on March first at $12.77 an hour with no benefits.
