Violet Jean (Clark) Tappenden, 92 of Coldwater passed
away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 21, 2019, while surrounded by
her loving family.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Coldwater with Pastor Bob
Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will
be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon.
Violet was born June 13, 1926 to Thomas and Clara
(Myers) Clark in Calhoun County. She graduated from Fremont High School. Violet
was a dedicated and hardworking woman, retiring from Gambles Company after 30
plus years as a receptionist.
On November 11, 1946, she married the love of her
life, Roger Tappenden in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2014.
Violet was a woman of strong faith and a long-time
member of First Baptist Church, where she was very involved in many capacities.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a supporter of the Girl Scouts,
also being a scout leader. Violet was a very giving woman, making sure that
everyone else’s needs were met before her own. Her true joy in life was
spending time with her family. She will be missed by many.
Mrs. Tappenden is survived by her children Lynda
(Gary) Pearson of Coldwater, Susan Hoffman of Jenison, and Joyce Tappenden-Duvall
of Destin, FL; her brother Maynard (Nancy) Stafford of Fremont, IN; her
grandchildren Tim (Missie) Pearson, Tara (Kevin) Maurer, Adam (Cheyenne Connin)
Pearson, Amy Hoffman, Amanda (Jason) Pattok, Elissa (Gregg) Bauer, and Erica Zebolsky;
twenty great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many loving nieces
& nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67
years, Roger Tappenden; and many brothers and sisters.
