BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Cougars of St. Charles Borromeo Saturday won the Sturgis Christian League Middle School Basketball Tournament.
St. Charles Borromeo scored 37-20 victory over Factoryville Christian in the first game. Brady Mescher led the scoring with 16 points followed by Jimmy Maynard with 5 and Josie Mescher and Hunter Scheidler with 4 points each.
In the Championship game the Cougars of St. Charles Borromeo met the Raiders of St. Mary’s. The Cougars came out on top with a 38-20 victory. In the championship game Brady Mescher again led the team scoring with 14 points followed by Alex Richards with 8 and Logan Stritzinger with 6.Saturday completed an 8-0 undefeated season for the Cougars.
For the 8th graders on the team, Brady Mescher, Christion Clark and Manny Ortiz, this completed an undefeated run of 22-0 over the past three years, and two consecutive Sturgis Christian League tournament titles.
