COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Terry Boguth told the district’s Board of Education Monday night that they have applied for a demolition grant with the City of Coldwater to tear down the school administration building on Sauk River Drive.
Boguth said they applied for the maximum $50,000 matching grant to get some quotes in order to see what it would cost to tear down the building.
But Boguth also said there is a possibility someone could buy the building which has been on the market since 2016.
She told the board she showed the building to a potential buyer earlier in the day on Monday.
Century 21 of Kalamazoo was named as the realtor for the building almost three years ago. They said in their proposal at the time that they would sell the building for $569,000.
Future plans call for the moving of the administration offices into the Lincoln Learning Center.
In addition, Boguth said they were looking at a groundbreaking for the new fourth and fifth grade building on Western Avenue during the second week of April. A name for the new school has not been selected yet.
