COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners Tuesday formally approved a request from Prosecuting Attorney Valerie White to hire an additional prosecutor which would bring the number of prosecutors in the office back up to three.
White is currently being assisted by Scott Smith after she was recently appointed by Circuit Judge Bill O’Grady to fill out the term of former Prosecutor Ralph Kimble whose resignation officially took effect January 1, 2019.
White explained to Commissioners during last Thursday’s work session that she wants to hire someone first and then decide on a chief assistant.
Commissioners also formally approved White’s request to fill a part time support staff position.
