WATERFORD, MI (WTVB) – Four Branch County bowlers qualified for bracket play at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Individual Bowling Finals on Saturday.
Division Two—
Coldwater’s Alec Keplinger finished first in the boys qualifying round with a six game total of 1,357 which included a high game of 248. On the girls side, Coldwater’s Noella Keplinger finished third in the qualifying round with a game total of 1,229 and a high game of 235. Rilee Cooper-Lewis did not qualify for the brackets.
After winning his first round match, Alec Keplinger lost in the boys quarterfinals to Elliot Discher of Tecumseh 387-345. Noella Keplinger also won her first round match but lost in the girls quarterfinals to Karli VanDuinen of Muskegon Reeths-Puffer 489-417.
Division Three—
Quincy’s Brody Glei and Cassie White did not qualify for the round of 16. White missed the final transfer spot by 12 pins. She had a six game total of 1.052 which included a high game of 215. Glei had a high game of 192.
Division Four—
Bronson Brandon Hyska was second in the qualifying round with a six game total of 1,329 which included a high game of 279. Dakota Smith also qualified for the brackets. She finished eighth in the girls qualifying with a six game total of 1,073 which included a high game of 233.
Hyska won his first round match but lost in the boys quafrterfinals to Collin Baldwin of Napoleon 343-339. Smith finished second in the state as she got all the way to the girls championship match where she lost to Mackenzie Johnson of Vandercook Lake 364-333.
