KENOWA HILLS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls gymnastics team finished fifth out of 10 teams with a score of 134.225 at the MHSAA Division One regional tournament hosted by Kenowa Hills Saturday. It was the highest score for a Coldwater team at the regional level.
The regional tournament featured state ranked cooperative teams from Grand Rapids to Lumen Christi. The top three teams from each regional advance to the state finals. Coldwater finished about 3.6 points behind Forest Hills for the final team transfer spot.
It was a big day for Coldwater freshmen Leah Goodwin and Layla Schoch as they advanced to the state finals as individuals. Goodwin won the vault with a score of 9.35. She was sixth in balance beam, second in floor exercise, eighth on the uneven bars and third in the all around with a score of 34.625.
Schoch was seventh in balance beam and finished sixth in floor exercise, vault, uneven bars and in the all around with a score of 33.775.
