Lloyd A. Newland,
92, of Tekonsha, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his home surrounded by
his loving family.
A graveside
memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at
Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
The family is being cared for by Dutcher
Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Lloyd was born on
January 23, 1927 to Adelbert and Jessie (Graves) Newland in Tekonsha. After
graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Army on November
14, 1945. He was honorably discharged on November 15, 1946 attaining the rank
of Corporal. Lloyd received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II
Victory Medal. He married Margaret Garn on June 13, 1948 in Albion and sadly
she preceded him in death on February 28, 2009.
He worked for the
United States Postal Service as the Postmaster in Tekonsha for 19 years,
retiring in 1987. Lloyd also worked as a bookkeeper at Althaver Chevrolet in
Tekonsha for over 20 years.
Lloyd enjoyed
fishing, golfing, hunting, listening to classical and big band music, traveling
throughout the United States with Margaret. He was always willing to help
anyone in need. Lloyd loved being with his family and friends but especially
his grandchildren.
Lloyd is survived
by his children; Gary (Kay) Newland of Tekonsha, Stephen (Cindy) Newland of
Homer, Alice (Stephen) Cavinder of Tekonsha and Linda (Tom) Hampton of
Tekonsha, his 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great
granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, his
granddaughter Kelly Marie Hampton, his grandson Scott Hampton, his brother
Stephen Davidian and his sister Dorothy Emmanuel.
