STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – In a game that was much closer than the final score indicates, the Coldwater High School girls basketball team advanced to Friday night’s Division One District Championship game with a 59-40 victory over Gull Lake. The Cardinals held a slim 27-21 lead at the half before outscoring the Blue Devils 32-19 in the second half.
Tyler Scheid had 17 points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds while Samantha Rodesiler and Carlee Crabtree added 10 points and eight rebounds. Emilee Smoker pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Coldwater improves their record to 20-1 and will face Battle Creek Central at 7:00 Friday in Sturgis.

All of the Branch County teams are out of the Michigan High School Athletic Association boys basketball tournament. Regional championships will be determined this evening.
Parma Western is the last Interstate 8 Conference team alive. They will face Haslett in the Division Two Regional final at Marshall. Pittsford will play Bellevue for the Division Four Regional championship at Fowler.
