COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In addition to snow, ice, and extreme cold that led to the closing of area schools at least nine days throughout the winter, excessive illness has now forced one area school to close again Friday.
Officials with St. Charles Borromeo School made the decision Thursday afternoon to close for a long weekend. The decision has come after a significant amount of student and staff illnesses.
School officials say there have been a number of different illnesses including stomach bug, Influenza A, upper respiratory, high fevers, and strep. They have also been granted a waiver for Friday, so they will not need to make it up.
The school will undergo a deep cleaning to try and prevent any further spreading of the illnesses.
