STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – Because of a gas leak at Sturgis High School, Friday night’s Division One girls basketball district title game between Coldwater and Battle Creek Central has been switched to Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse. Game time is still 7:00 p.m..
Since Battle Creek Central was listed as the home team on the bracket, they had the first opportunity to host the game in a situation like this.
Sturgis High School students were sent home late Friday morning due to what was being called an isolated gas leak at the High School.
Sturgis Fire and Michigan Gas Utilities recommended to school officials as a precaution that the building be evacuated.
School officials then decided to dismiss students for the day.
All other buildings in the Sturgis school district remained in session.
