BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Lady Cardinals claimed their second straight district title with a hard fought 47-38 victory over the host Battle Creek Central Bearcats. The game had to be moved to the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse due to a gas leak at Sturgis High School which was scheduled to host the district title game.
Coldwater held a 12 point halftime lead but saw the Bearcats twice grab one-point leads in the fourth quarter before clinching the win in the last two minutes. Coldwater scored the last nine points of the game after being tied at 38 with just over 2:30 left.
Carlee Crabtree led Coldwater with 19 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Scheid had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals.
Coldwater made 10 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter and will face 20-2 East Lansing on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Caledonia High School.
East Lansing ended Coldwater’s last year in the regional final before eventually losing in the state championship game.
