BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council is scheduled to discuss during their meeting Monday night their options concerning the future of the city’s water tower.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the staff needs direction from the council in near future on whether or not they feel repairs and updates need to be made to the current tower or if a new water tower is needed.
It’s estimated the current tower needs over $74,000 in updates with an exterior painting within the next five years that would cost $260,000.
The civil and environmental engineering firm of Prein and Newhof estimates a new water tower would cost just under $1.3 million for 250,000 gallons and $1,375,000 for a 300,000 gallon water tower.
The current tank was built in 1960. The exterior was painted in 2010.
