COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Now that the decision has been made to hold Strawberry Fest once again this year in downtown Coldwater, this year’s event has been scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2019.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his report for Monday’s City Council meeting that at the time that the city calendar was published, a date was not included in the calendar because its fate had not been decided.
The Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce recently went in another direction and decided to return the facilitation of downtown events to the City of Coldwater.
The Coldwater Recreation Department has taken on administration of the festivals and Entertainment Under the Stars.
Strawberry Fest will be the first event the Rec Department will be handling.
With this year’s event scheduled for June 22, Baker points out this is one week later than previous years with the intent to move it away from Father’s Day weekend and coordinate it with a large softball tournament at Heritage Park that will also be held that same weekend.
The softball tournament is expected to draw thousands from outside of Branch County to the community.
