COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was charged in connection with the January 13, 2019 robbery of a woman entered into a plea bargain agreement with the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
32-year old Daniel Walters entered guilty pleas to charges of larceny from a building and being in possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams.
Two charges of methamphetamine possession as well as a breaking and entering count will be dismissed in exchange for the pleas.
Coldwater City Police say Walters fled from a West Pearl Street laundromat after stealing the woman’s purse and along the way, he removed $236 from the women’s wallet. The money was later recovered along with the purse.
Walters was eventually found at Poly Green Foam on Jay Street hiding underneath a pile of rubber mats and had to receive hospital treatment for hypothermia before being booked at the Branch County Jail.
He is scheduled to be sentenced April 22, 2019.
