SHERWOOD, MI (WTVB) – A Battle Creek man was injured Thursday morning in a Sherwood Township traffic accident.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 42-year-old Andrew Wayne Moser was able to report the accident in the area of Dunks and Division Roads by texting 911 from his cell phone.
Central Dispatch was able to determine his location via his cell phone and relayed the information to responding emergency units.
Moser said he was a passenger and could not get out. He also said the driver had left the scene.
But deputies determined after arriving at the scene that Moser was not trapped in the vehicle and was able to remove himself. They say he was treated at the scene for his injuries by LifeCare Ambulance and was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A preliminary investigation by deputies indicated Moser was the driver and no one else was in the vehicle which failed to yield at a T intersection stop sign. The vehicle crossed Dunks Road and struck several trees becoming to rest in a deep gully.
Sherwood and Union City firefighters along with the Michigan State Police also assisted.
