Maxine was born July 13, 1933 to Archie and Dycie (Day)
Hawver in Sherwood. She married the love of her life, Irvin Swift on March 28,
1954 in Angola. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1999. Mickie was a
hardworking woman, raising her family while also spending many years working as
a clerk at Dan’s Market, where she was known to pass out candy to the children
visiting her lane.
Mickie enjoyed spending time doing crochet work,
camping and watching wildlife, especially birds. She also liked doing jigsaw
puzzles and watching gameshows. One of her many talents was cooking. If you
visited her at home, you had to plan on extra time because you were not leaving
the house without eating. Mickie also loved animals and spoiled all those she
could. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her
grand and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving
personality and always worrying about everyone else’s needs. Mickie will be
missed by many.
Mrs. Swift is survived by her sons Douglas (Cheryl)
Swift, Arden “AJ” (Michelle) Swift, Lee (Karen) Swift all of Bronson and Dale
Swift of Coldwater; her grandchildren Amy (Rod) Fair, Stacy (Matt) Sharp, Christopher
(Kelly) Swift, Emily, Elizabeth, Elayna, Evan, Natalie, Kaylee Swift; her great
grandchildren Colin Smith, Marshall Fair, Emerson Fair and Audrey Sharp; many
nieces & nephews; and her good friend Marilyn Piatt. She was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband Irvin; her siblings Archie Hawver, Jr., Ellen
Winfrey, Margaret “Peg” Norton, and Mary Cox.
Memorials may be
directed to First Congregational Church.
