COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man with a criminal record that goes back almost two decades is heading back to the Michigan Department of Corrections after admitting his guilt on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court to breaking into an Ovid Township home last Labor Day.
50-year-old Jamie Fuller entered a guilty plea to a second degree home invasion charge which carries a maximum prison sentence in Michigan of 15 years. In exchange for his plea, Branch County Prosecutors will dismiss the rest of the charges including counts of first degree home invasion and assault with a weapon.
The Michigan Department of Corrections web site indicated at the time of his arrest that Fuller absconded from parole August 15, 2018.
Whatever sentence he gets May 6 will be consecutive to his current parole after he was given a five year sentence in December of 2014 for Operating While Intoxicated.
Michigan State Police say the resident was allegedly confronted at a patio door by Fuller who then broke the glass and got inside. Fuller allegedly assaulted the resident and then went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk and a knife, which investigators say was used to threaten the resident.
Fuller fled when a Michigan State Police trooper and a Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived. He was eventually arrested after K-9’s were brought in to help search for him through a swamp and wooded area.
State Police say they suspect Fuller also allegedly tried to steal the resident’s vehicle from the driveway prior to entering the home.
