COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – No injuries were reported after a car crashed head-on into a Coldwater Board of Public Utilities utility pole at East Chicago and Morse Streets in Coldwater around 12 noon Wednesday.
The front end of the car sustained heavy damage. Coldwater Police say the driver was pulling out onto U.S. 12 from Morse and crashed into the pole after trying to avoid hitting another east bound vehicle.
The accident tied up lunch hour traffic in the area.
Coldwater firefighters were also dispatched to the scene as a precaution after the pole ended up on the car.
The impact caused the pole to lean at a nearly 45 degree angle but the wires did not snap.
A CBPU crew had to be called in to make repairs to the damaged pole.
