BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Bronson got a season opener sweep of Colon Monday by scores of 2-1 and 7-3. Brett Sikorski struck out eight in four innings to get the win in the opener. He did not allow any hits or runs.
Kameron Haviland struck out two in his one inning of work to earn the save. Haviland also went for two-for-three at the plate. Ryan Wisman had an RBI.
Haviland was the winning pitcher and drove in three runs in the nightcap. He along with Wisman both had two hits. Haviland struck out four in 2 1/3 innings of work to get the second game victory.
Quincy opened its season by getting swept by Marshall 8-2 and 11-2 in a doubleheader played at the University of Notre Dame. Caleb McCavit and Andrew Abright collected the only hits for the Orioles in the opener. McCavit also pitched two innings and struck out four.
Marshall used a five run fourth inning to win the nightcap. Quincy used four pitchers in both games. Blake Burkhart pitched two scoreless innings in his varsity debut during the nightcap.
Girls Softball—
Bronson opened their season by splitting with Colon. The Magi won the opener 3-1 but the Vikings bounced back to take the nightcap 4-2. Jaydn Cary collected five hits in the twinbill for the Vikings while Dakota Smith had four hits.
Bronson’s Lynsey Smith was the winning pitcher in the second game.
