COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – April has been declared Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
This year, Sexual Assault Awareness Month is celebrating its 18th anniversary with the theme “I ASK” which is a campaign that promotes the power of asking.
Asking for consent is a healthy, normal, and necessary part of everyday interactions.
Nearly 1 in 5 women and 1 in 67 men in the US have experienced rape or attempted rape at some time. The good news is that prevention is possible.
ProMedica Coldwater Sexual Assault Services which is located in the Emergency Department is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the medical and forensic needs for women, children and men.
Patients are seen in a private exam room for their safety and comfort, and most exams are free.
If your group or organization would like a presentation on sexual violence prevention, call (517)279-5437 and ask to speak to a sexual assault nurse examiner.
