COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Company leadership and staff from Consumers Energy’s Coldwater Service Center gathered recently to celebrate five consecutive years of incident-free work by its Electric Lines team who are the first in the company to achieve such a feat.
Electric Operations Manager Brenda Houtz says “this is an incredible accomplishment”.
Facilities in Coldwater, Adrian, Battle Creek and South Monroe also reached a milestone in 2018 when all the facilities reported zero recordable incidents for the year.
As part of its safety culture training, the company has instituted a variety of safety protocols including “Stop the Job” which empowers every employee to halt work if they see an unsafe condition or hazard.
Officials say the safe work environment is due in part to a partnership between Consumers and the Utility Workers Union of America.
