COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Area Lions Club “Lights of Love” project was called a success in its first year by club President Terri Huffman during Monday night’s Coldwater City Council meeting.
The “Lights of Love” project involved the selling of illuminated Christmas trees to sponsors for $100 during the past holiday season.
Huffman said all of the trees were sold quickly so they had to get more.
All proceeds will be directed to the local Lions Club and be used to assist those in the county with the purchase of vision & hearing aids as well as funding diabetes education and prevention.
They wound up with a net profit of over $6,200.
She said they plan to have the Lights of Love event for a second year in the southwest corner of the Four Corners Park starting December 7 in conjunction with the annual holiday parade. This year, the Lions plan to keep the trees up until January 4, 2020.
