UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City Village Manager Chris Mathis says the process to put an ordinance in place concerning medical marijuana has gotten underway.
He says the Village Council this week asked their attorney to review a proposed ordinance.Mathis says it’s hoped everything is finalized by July after the ordinance follows the normal process of a public hearing and two readings by the Village Council. He adds medical marijuana will only be allowed in areas zoned industrial.
Meanwhile, the Reading Planning Commission approved an application by Green Tree Relief for a Special Land Use permit on Monday night which clears the way for the Medical Marijuana Provisioning Center to operate at 124 South Main Street.
It will be the second such facility to operate in downtown Reading as it falls under the city’s Medical Marijuana Facilities Licensing and Zoning Ordinances. The Happiest Camper opened up last month at 112 South Main Street.
